Care and Reproofing
Step 1 – If your Arktis wax jacket ever requires cleaning, do so by using cold water and a sponge to wipe down the outside of the jacket. Avoid using hot water, and any harsh chemicals. Do not put your jacket in the washing machine. This will remove the wax coating permanently and the jacket cannot be rewaxed.
Step 2 – To reproof take a tin of your chosen wax dressing. Remove the lid and put the tin in a shallow bath of hot water. The wax should start to melt, and should take up to 30 minutes for it to fully turn into liquid.
Step 3 - Using a clean cloth or sponge, work the melted wax into the jacket including all seams and creases. Wipe off any excess wax. You should keep the wax tin warm, otherwise it will start to harden and it won’t adhere to the jacket. Be sure to avoid any linings, fur, and the inside of pockets.
Step 4 – If you want to get a smoother finish use a hairdryer over your jacket to melt the wax once again. Then leave your jacket to dry overnight in a naturally warm ventilated place.
